[Composer’s Note]
This piece was commissioned by my alma mater, the Chiba Municipal Toke Junior High School Wind Ensemble. It is my second work for them, following Star Story (2002). The music is structured with the concept of an “orchestra” in mind, inspired by the fact that the premiere was performed not by percussion majors, but entirely by students whose primary instruments were wind instruments.
Percussion1: Glockenspiel, Xylophone, Crash Cymbals, Bongo, Conga.
Percussion2: Vibraphone, Maracas.
Percussion3: Marimba (C28-C76 4 octave) *, Wind Chime, Tam-tam, Bass Drum*.
Percussion4: Marimba (C-C 4 octave) *, Bass Drum*.
Percussion5: Chime, Tambourine, Triangle, Maracas.
Percussion6: Timpani (4), Claves.
Percussion7: Suspended Cymbal, Splash Cymbal, Chinese Cymbal, Hi-hat., Tom-tom (3), Snare Drum.
* Marimba and bass drum can each be performed with a single instrument.
