[Report] What is good sound? Tuning training session!
This training series was started by me, Staff Kurosawa, who has been working as a musical instrument store staff member for 17 years, with the desire to "re-learn the basics."
Following the previous "Zildjian Training Session," this second edition was titled "What is Good Sound? Tuning Training Session," and was held on June 21st (Saturday) at our store's B1F studio, with Mr. Kanji Fujiwara as the instructor.
In this training session, we focused on the profound theory and practical techniques that lie behind the seemingly simple task of "tuning," and spent two hours working with participants to reconsider "What is good sound?" and explore the answers to that question.
On the day of the event, people with various experience and knowledge of drums participated, and we covered topics such as the essence of "even tension," the concept of reproducible tuning, and approaches to bring out the differences in the sound of each product. We were able to realize the importance of tuning that does not end with "just doing it".
During the session, participants were divided into groups and had a hands-on experience using drums to "spread the drums evenly."
Through practice, we were able to share how the sound changes with even the slightest difference in hand movements, and the importance of imagining the "completed sound."
From all the participants,
- “It was a very easy-to-understand and valuable opportunity.”
- “It was fun to experience tuning.”
- “I want to participate again.”
As the organizer, I was greatly encouraged by the feedback I received.
In addition, the lecturer, Mr. Kanji Fujiwara, gave a very easy-to-understand explanation and answered every question carefully, making it a truly fulfilling two hours.
Thank you very much to everyone who participated and our instructor, Kanji Fujiwara!
It was a great time with lots of learning and fun! !
The next ``Staff Kurosawa Training Series'' is also currently being planned.
We will provide more practical and educational time for those who want to review the basics and deepen their understanding of music and instruments!
We are also considering holding another "tuning training session" with a slightly different theme as a refresher! Please look forward to the next theme and schedule!
