About KATO.BK Model Seegers
The basic model was created by studying and reproducing every detail of the timpani mallet owned by Mr. Seegers, including the way the felt was wrapped and the core material.
The basic concept is "soft mallets with big sounds"
There are many different types of players, with different physiques and playing styles, so in order to allow each player to choose a mallet that suits them best, we came up with many ideas and created a huge number of prototypes, from which we carefully selected 20 types (3 original types + 17 variations) to create a lineup.
*The names of the variation models were given based on the impressions that Segeers himself had while trying out the instruments. They are not meant to be restrictive and should only be considered as a guideline.
This timpani mallet, with its special head structure, has the advantage that the player can control the clarity, tone, and rhythm of the sound. The idea of this mallet head has a history of about 150 years, and at the time, materials such as wood, sponge, wool, and leather were used. Today, wood, cork, leather, and cotton (felt) are mainly used. It continues to develop as if it has been used for playing in Central Europe for 150 years.
