Lecturer introduction
Kenichi Yamakita
Born in 1968. In 1985, he discovered African pop music and discovered that percussion suited him. In 1988, he moved to New York alone to learn about the roots and rhythms of Latin music, and from around 1990 began actively participating in his own groups and sessions, starting his career as a percussionist. Terumasa Hino, NORA, Yosuke Yamashita, Akira Sakata, OBATALA, Naruyoshi Kikuchi, RM Jazz legacy, Ikue Asazaki, Toshio Kadomatsu, Yasuhiro Yamane, cocco, Boredoms, Saikobaba, and many others. His solo activities include live performances and the release of five albums. He is also known for his unique activities such as ``Yamakita Juku'', which teaches the science of rhythm, special lectures at music colleges, and a video of his own Giro Machine that received 20,000 views in two days.
