This piece was newly composed for this publication and recording.
During the past year and a half, both the music world and my own state of mind have been forced to change, and within that, I tried to capture in music the contrast between what changes and what remains unchanged.
This global crisis has brought about many realizations—some positive, others negative.
I hope that one day we can look back on this time, smile, and say, “Those were unusual days, weren’t they?” while continuing to look ahead.

5: Timpani (4), Sleigh Bells, Wind Chime
When performing on a 4-octave marimba (C28–C76), the lowest A note may be omitted.
