Composer’s Comment
This work was commissioned by the Yamaha Symphonic Band.
My previous composition for the ensemble also dealt with the theme of “time,” and in this new work I sought to explore not only time but also space.

The expression “time burns” conveys a sense of expansion that differs from the idea of distortion alone.
In this piece, I attempted to depict through notation the perception of time being distorted as it burns, and how that distortion, by its very nature, influences space itself.

Compared to my other works, this composition is considerably more challenging.
I hope you will approach it with flexibility and creativity, transforming imagination into artistry, and bringing forth performances filled with individuality.

Instrument substitutions are permitted only if they do not alter the essence of the music.
However, changes in the number of performers are not recommended for this piece, in accordance with the composer’s intent.

The marimba may be shared, for example with Player 2 performing from the black-key side.
