This piece has no specific story. It is simply a generalization of emotions that surfaced from deep within the heart — not a reflection of any one person’s feelings, and therefore open to a wide range of interpretations.
One note regarding performance:
Many parts of this work use mathematical processes to determine tempo and meter. Therefore, even in the seemingly free-rhythm opening and in the irregular-meter sections later on, please strive to maintain a clear sense of pulse.
I hope that by overcoming the technical challenges, you will discover truly remarkable performances.
