(Sorry for reusing it)
Dear readers of the JPC newsletter, the time has come for the familiar Taiko story.
It's already early this year, and I'm writing this manuscript in November.
There is only a month and a half left in 2017.
I thought I was still young, but next year I'll be 49 years old. He is still young.
Eikichi Yazawa is currently in the middle of his annual national tour.
I am typing this manuscript in a hotel room in a certain city.
When we're in the yakuza business of traveling glass, people often say things like, ``It's nice to be able to travel all over the country, eat delicious food, and play around with all sorts of things.''
Well, even if it doesn't hit, it's not far off. I'm sure I'll go for some food.
So, if you're going to eat it anyway, it's better if it's delicious and cheap. I'd like to have a drink. Of course, I want the ramen noodles to be delicious as well.
I've been doing this for over 20 years and will soon turn 50. We've long since passed what the Analects call ``Fudaku,'' and we're still wandering here and there. I'm confused all the time.
What's more, these days, when I come back to my hotel room after work, I tend to drink two cans of highballs and stay alone in my room without going out. When you can finally have some alone time from the noisy work life. I opened the window, which had been closed all day, to get some fresh air, changed into my loungewear, opened a can of alcohol, and smoked a cigarette.
He may look like a lonely middle-aged man, but he's actually lonely lol
But for some reason, that loneliness gives me an indescribable sense of peace. A long time ago, there was a book called ``Poverty Travelogue'' by Yoshiharu Tsuge, and I loved it so much that I read it until it fell apart (in the end, it really fell apart lol). It was written that, "When I am soon lodged in a dilapidated and gloomy cheap hotel, and as I lie down in the bleak room where there is nothing left to do, I feel a deep sense of peace at the same time as loneliness," and I thought, "Ah, that's nice...
I understand it very well. I was a young boy who dreamed of going to a place like that too. If you look at him from the side, he's quite a deep-rooted guy lol
How did I come to think this?
I sat alone in my room and thought about it.
This time I think it's going to be an introspective talk, so I'm sorry to have to share it with you all. If you are interested, please contact us. “It’s kind of painful.”
If you feel that way, just turn the page and see Risa Okada with her adorable smile.
You can enjoy the lovely series, so please go there.
Well, let's get back to the topic. It's painful lol
The other day, when I happened to take a look at SNS such as Facebook and Twitter as usual, I noticed that there were a lot of depressing articles, perhaps by chance.
Refugees, environmental destruction, abuse, genocide, and all kinds of discriminatory articles due to conflicts occurring around the world. That alone is quite depressing. We shouldn't turn our eyes away from reality, but it's natural to feel exhausted when we see articles and photos like that without any preparation. Above all, the posts that I and my friends write about everyday things are, in a way, extremely ``uncool.''
They speak only based on their own values, and completely crush and deny anything that is incompatible with those values. I was shocked to realize that there were so many posts that seemed to suggest that only one's own values were the only righteousness.
The media I'm used to, SNS, is a place for positive information exchange and sharing, and even if it's a political debate, it's a place where we can accept each other's arguments and discuss our differences, and while it's meaningful, I don't think it should trample on the dignity of the other person.
I too have been victimized by the poison of SNS for quite some time.
Although there were many meaningful and rewarding things, I may have spent many times that amount of time ``poisoning'' things. No, I was spending it. I deeply regret and reflect on this.
I realized this really late and thought about it.
Whether or not to close all SNS accounts.
However, some of my friends can only be contacted through SNS. There are people living overseas that I rarely meet, but with whom I often have close and positive interactions for several hours through direct messages. It would be foolish to erase your connection with them just because you are not good at self-operation.
So, I first changed the first page that opens in my laptop's browser settings from Facebook to a site I watch as a hobby. When I opened my laptop and started up my browser, Facebook no longer opened automatically.
Next is the smartphone. I turned off all notifications on apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Now, when I pick up my smartphone, I don't see a red new post badge on the app icon, so I no longer open it unconsciously. Smartphones are now limited to making calls, emailing, managing schedules, and listening to music while traveling.
(Even so, I still open it unconsciously sometimes lol)
One day, about two weeks after I started living like that.
I put all the things I was going to take on a trip into my suitcase, and was about to put a book in the empty space like I always do.
The number of books I had finished reading on my bookshelf was increasing.
I didn't realize this either, but I was spending more time reading books than I was spending watching social media. It may seem obvious, but when I was having a fulfilling time, I didn't have time to notice such simple things, and instead I voraciously devoured the pile of books I had accumulated. I thought about it again.
"This is great," he said.
However, maybe because I'm still stupid and haven't completely gotten rid of the "toxicity" of SNS, I ended up posting my joy on Facebook like an idiot. I should have stopped lol.
That's stupid. I should have been punished that much. I'll be back again. It's like the last scene of "Susaki Paradise". We should have broken up, but when we are apart, we can't help but worry about each other. Before we knew it, we were walking around the city in the pouring rain, looking for each other. Before you know it, it's back in its original sheath.
Let's get back to the topic lol
I wrote something like, ``I'm glad that I've been able to read a lot of books and have time to watch movies because I cut back on social media!''
After a few minutes, I immediately regretted what I had written.
in my thread
"Books are boring. There's nothing to read."
"Movies are fooling children. They're brainwashing fools."
“Music too.”
There was something written. It's already definitive.
It is completely shut out unless necessary. For me, the only time I need SNS is to announce a band's live performance. Other than that, it's not a big deal. If you want a diary, all you have to do is buy your own diary and write in it. Nothing is exposed to public scrutiny.
Moreover, there is no reason for him to be slandered without any reason.
Important things are usually communicated through direct messages and emails.
The only place where I can still see things in a peaceful environment is Instagram, which I keep as a daily picture diary. Because there are no negative people. There are links to Facebook and Twitter, but Facebook is mostly left alone.
When I write it like this, some people say, ``I'm a vulnerable guy,'' but is being vulnerable really that much of a sin?
Is it the essence of "strength" that everyone shouts out loud? Is loud, toxic, provocative, and high-handed “justice” really “right”? Aren't you just following along with an easy-to-understand theory? What do you think?
Nowadays, when we talk about politics, we immediately categorize people into conservatives, right-wingers, liberals, leftists, and discriminate against them, but I seriously think it's okay to have people in the middle. Moreover, if you are truly a conservative or right-wing person who is concerned about your country, I think the right path is to pour your heart and soul into improving the lives of each individual citizen and the cultural life of the country. What is the point of running around town wearing intimidating clothing and playing military songs at high volume? That is supremacy.
The story has become exaggerated.
I can almost hear you saying things like, ``You're such an arrogant person, but aren't you just suffering from chuunibyou?'', but I appreciate your help. Please leave me alone.
Are you really good enough to say that about other people?
It makes me want to say something so sarcastic.
Whoa, that was so uncool.
I guess the poison hasn't completely gone away yet. I apologize for the inconvenience.
But life also requires poison. In some ways, you can only become a full-fledged adult if you know how to use poison.
That said, you shouldn't use real poison lol
Dangerous, dangerous. Ah, that’s scary lol
So, I grabbed the thread of the story by the neck and forced it to talk about drums.
Isn't there a tendency in the music world that I talked about earlier, ``the louder the louder the louder the better?''
What do you think of the music played in the media? Don't you always see the same faces?
At least that's how it feels to me.
I have no intention of denying that kind of music.
However, if there are people who only know this kind of music, or who want to listen to different music, and for some reason they don't have the means to search for other music, and they just accept and listen to what is distributed in the media...
In fact, the world is full of music. Money worship where victory or defeat is determined by the number of peopleJapanThis will lead to a shift in values, where ``what sells'' becomes ``good''.
I think this is extremely dangerous and horribly boring.
Your imagination and powers of observation are taken away, and your antennae for inspiration are broken at the root. If you ask me, this is nothing but "violence." Once upon a timeJapanAt a time when the city was still vibrant and filled with the energy of development, Shuji Terayama said, ``Let's throw away books and go to town.'' At that time, I must have had far more energy in reality than in books. I am from the generation that was born into the atmosphere of that era. Even though I had no actual experience, I was born breathing in the atmosphere of that era. And now I would say:
“Young man, let’s go outside with books and music.”
And.
To say more
“Let’s grab our instruments, our canvases, and our manuscript paper and go outside!”
And.
In this day and age, you can do everything with just an iPad. (This calmness is also important lol)
And one of the things I've been doing for a long time is playing drums outdoors. A place in Saitama Prefecture called AGS Park (abbreviation) has a huge baseball field, soccer field, and forest where you can have a picnic, and the attached parking lot is ridiculously large, so I used to practice drums there.
When I came up with that idea, I thought it was genius.
However, there are many people in this world who think the same way. Long before I even thought of it, AGS Park was a mecca for drummers to practice. I got my driver's license, received a bright red Honda City from my uncle that looked like it was going to fall apart at any moment, happily loaded up the drum set I had bought on loan, and set out early in the morning. I've been going here for a while since I was about 19, sweating under the summer sun, trying not to succumb to the freezing winter wind, trying not to give in to the silent pressure of car enthusiasts, and trying not to get suspicious from the occasional patrolling police officer. It's a shame that I can't go often because I'm busy with work right now, but when I do go, I meet all kinds of friends and have a great time. That's real communication that you can't get on SNS. It's a place where you can get fresh inspiration. Of course, it's fine to lock yourself up in a rented studio and post videos of yourself performing on social media, but the feeling of freedom is something special. On a nice day, I set up my favorite machine, played a bit, took a break, and had a cup of coffee. What a luxurious time. My favorite method was to play along with my favorite music through earphones (my favorite playlist was to play 3 hours of James Brown funk over and over).
On rare occasions, I just look up at the sky and play without thinking about anything, and it's a very strange and free time. It's a "soliloquy" using drums. There is no need for difficult techniques or fast strokes.
That's just my case though.
Many drummers may pick up two sticks and head to their instruments thinking, ``I'm going to play well, and I'm going to practice to be able to play well.'' However, if you don't think about anything, just look at the floating clouds, and say, ``Ah, there's a drum here...'' and make a soft sound, I feel like you can see a different kind of interesting thing about drums.
The sounds of the trees swaying, the chirping of birds, the voices of children running nearby, or even the chatter of older brothers playing with their cars over there may become a partner for your session.
Perhaps because of that experience, there are many people around me who can't stop playing outdoor drums.
All of you are sharing a great time in that place. And what's more, it's "free" lol
Well, I've almost reached the limit on the number of characters.
I'm really sorry for being more incoherent than usual this time.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who read my long nonsense as I wander around looking for a comfortable place.
I pray that your new year will be full of joy.
I look forward to seeing you again on this page someday.
Wishing you love and peace.
