Sound and Healing Part.1 “What is the “sound bath” that was also used in the Olympics?』
In recent years, we have begun to see instruments such as singing bowls and gongs being used during yoga and meditation.
"Sound bath" is a type of music therapy that is becoming popular overseas, especially in Europe, and is expected to have healing effects.
Various musical instrument manufacturers are also developing healing instruments.
I will be updating about sound and healing over the next few times.
Enjoy a world of sound that is completely different from playing music.

Sound bath, a relaxing space using healing instruments
Sound bath is a sound therapy that uses sounds and vibrations to relax and harmonize the mind and body.
The practitioner (player) plays musical instruments using singing bowls, gongs, crystal singing bowls, chimes, tuning forks, etc.
Participants use a variety of methods, including practicing yoga or meditation, or placing or applying a singing bowl or tuning fork to their body.
It has become so popular in Europe that at the 2026 Milan-Cortena Winter Olympics, which will be held in Italy, there will be a relaxation facility in the athletes' village and time will be set aside for sound bath treatments.
The therapy that was actually conducted at the Milan-Cortena Winter Olympics mainly used crystal singing bowls as instruments, and the athletes stretched while the sounds echoed.
instruments used
The instruments used in sound baths are mainly those with long note values and those that produce sounds that imitate natural and environmental sounds.
"An instrument with a long note value"
Examples include singing bowls, gongs, crystal singing bowls, chimes, and tuning forks.
Some instruments are tuned to various frequencies, such as 440Hz and 432Hz, which correspond to the "chakras" that express energy and balance within the body, and there are frequencies and pitches that match the seven major chakras that exist along the center line of the body.
The long vibrations emitted from the instrument are used to stimulate and activate the chakras.
*The above “chakra” will be posted on JPC MAG at a later date! Look forward to it!

"An instrument that produces sounds that imitate nature and environmental sounds"
Instruments such as rain sticks, ocean drums, and nut chimes produce sounds that imitate nature and the environment, such as the sounds of rain, water, wind, and soil.
You can create a more relaxing sound during yoga or meditation.
In recent years, rain makers have been released that emit a constant sound for 5 to 30 minutes.

"Scale instrument"
Instruments with scales such as kalimba, handpan, and slit drum.
Play the melody and accompaniment.
It has a healing effect on both the performer and those listening.
