Special contribution: Shinichi Ueno “Trajectory of recording activities and current thoughts”

CD Phonix Marimba Orchestra IV was released on August 7th.
This latest CD allows you to enjoy the warm sounds unique to the marimba. In addition, this album was created with the hope that the various "loves" depicted in the songs will become the echoes of prayers and ascend to heaven, allowing you to enjoy encouragement and healing through this CD.
The collection is a gem of an album containing works by composers ranging from classical to modern times, such as Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Schubert, Sibelius, Mendelssohn, Smetana, Elgar, Paulus, and Whittaker. Please give it a listen.
Percussion player: Shinichi Ueno
When I visited JPC for the first time in a long time the other day, I told them about my 21st CD release, and they kindly asked me if I could write an article related to CD production. While thanking Komaki Musical Instruments, I was able to write about my performance experience and recording process.
Me,1978Since holding his debut recital in Strasbourg, France in 2017, he has already45Years have passed, but over the course of my career as a performer, recording has been a great help to me in looking at my own music.
My relationship with recording started when I was at university.4In 2010, when Sumire Yoshihara was recording for her first record, I assisted her in setting up the recording, and that was my first experience of recording a solo solo. After that, I traveled to Europe and had the experience of embodying my own expression through recording with the orchestra I was a member of. This increased his interest in recording his own performances.
During my time with the orchestra, I won two international competitions and had the opportunity to perform in two concertos. Furthermore, he performed in Europe including a recital at the International Percussion Forum held at Center Pompidou in Paris.10I gave several recitals. On such occasionsRadioFranceIt was also a good experience to have the live commentary and recording of the event.
I am10After performing in France for a year,1985In 2007, I returned to Japan for a recital, and since the piece I performed was a piece I had honed in France, I was able to perform with confidence. This is my first solo afterCDIt has come to fruition as “Psaffa”.
1988I decided to form a percussion group, Phonics, in 2010, and I decided to record my and the group's repertoire, so I recorded a video of playing techniques that no one had done at the time, called ``Visual Percussion Instrument Performance Techniques.''VHS) Instructional video released by Ongaku no Tomosha, same project by ToshibaEMIIt was also published and sold. This is the first meeting between me and the group.CDThis led to it being sold by Toshiba EMI. (At that timeJ.P.C.In collaboration with Mr.VHS(The memory of producing and selling it also came back to me.)
The continuation of these recordings is the result of this production.CD「Phonix Marimba Orchestra IV “Love & Prayer” ”,21the secondCDIt bore fruit as. Next, as a trajectory of performance.CDI would like to introduce the contents of each.

What I think now when I look back
I've released 21 CDs so far, but lately I've been often told that even if I make CDs, they still don't sell. Major companies that produce CDs don't make things that don't sell, so they end up going out of print after a while. However, some people may think that the data will remain, but unfortunately percussion music is a minor world. If people stop searching, data will eventually disappear. I don't mean to sound grandiose, but just as I have spread and developed this music through my love of percussion music and playing it, I hope that those of us who love percussion instruments will eventually recognize these as classics of percussion music, and that we can leave them as an archive for future generations of percussionists.
I am very happy that my recording activities have been recognized and published in this article, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to JPC for their support. We hope that everyone who read this article will visit JPC and make some purchases.
