Composer’s Comment
The idea for this piece came from a suggestion by Mr. T from JPC, who said:
“It would be nice to have a piece that uses relatively few instruments—nothing too specialized—but still offers plenty of musical satisfaction. Something that can be performed at schools with a couple of beginners, yet could also be handled by one person if needed.”
I thought, “That makes sense,” and began composing.
Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. As someone who enjoys a good drink, I found it stressful not being able to go out for a casual drink. So I decided to write a piece inspired by three of my favorite places—two wine bars and a yakiniku restaurant—that I plan to visit again once the world returns to normal.
The music itself isn’t directly related to those establishments; rather, it is based on the imagery of Paradise, Forest, and Frost.
If you can guess the names of the real places, let’s go have a drink together!
